I'm a PhD student in Linguistics at UNOVA - Lisbon, and I took part in an international exchange program in Japan during college.
During my Master's degree, I focused on Psycholinguistics and Language Acquisition. I researched the perception process of contrasting vowels between native and non-native English speakers, as well as issues related to speech intelligibility in a foreign language. I’m also interested in Experimental Psycholinguistics, Phonetics and Phonology studies, L2 perception, and learning.Me as a Teacher
I've been teaching since 2010 to teenagers and adults. I have an extensive professional experience in the teaching field, and I’ve worked in schools, language centers, and as an online private tutor. Currently, I'm a Portuguese teacher at a school in Lisbon, teaching students from the 8th to 12th grade, and I also teach online to students from different nationalities.
What I love most about being a teacher is that I don't feel like I'm working; I have fun in every class with my students. Teaching comes naturally to me, and I love being able to share what I've learned with others, while also feeling that I am constantly learning and improving after each class.My lessons & teaching style
Regarding language instruction, my methodology is hybrid, drawing on both communicative and psycholinguistic approaches. The main goal of my classes is to enhance student's communication skills, along with semantic understanding and social function, not just linguistic structures. Naturally, I continuously adapt my methodology to the needs of each student/group, making modifications or additions as necessary. All of this is done with the ultimate goal of helping my students achieve excellence in their objectives. In exam preparation classes, the focus is on achieving success in the exams: we have practice tests, discuss answers and corrections, and train for timing and exam completion.My teaching material

Estou estudando japonês com a Carolina. Ela é uma professora muito legal e capacitada! Gostei da didática, do método e dos materiais. Ela explica muito bem e de maneira clara. A forma como ela estrutura as aulas é muito boa e faz muito sentido.
