My name is Lawrence, but feel free to call me LJ! Iâm 24 years old, born and raised in the United States. Like you, Iâm a language learner looking to explore the world and open doors to new opportunities. But languages arenât my only interest. I work in the medical field and spend my free time engaged in activities like cooking, photography, traveling, reading, exercising, and more. Being a language teacher and learner for many years has taught me a lot, especially in the area of whatâs important and whatâs not. Anyone can learn to master a language, but most don't approach it the right way. Language learning is all about taking your time...acquiring new things, not memorizing them. As a teacher, I want to help you make progress as quickly as possible, but without rushing. There is no pressure. We're going to take the time we need to feel comfortable with new vocabulary, sentence structure, and conversations.My lessons & teaching style
I'm a very flexible teacher. Each one of you is different. You have different goals, strengths, and weaknesses. My job is to keep your strengths strong and build up areas where you need a little help.
You'll find our lessons to be relaxed, whether you're wanting to work on speaking, grammar, or vocabulary. We're here to learn and have fun. There are no textbooks or online programs to purchase. ESL Tutor Forsyth Technical Community CollegeFor two years, prior to receiving a professional English teaching certificate, I worked as a tutor for students at the local community college who acquired English as a second language. We focused mainly on academic English - grammar concepts and improving our conversation skills. I had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students from different backgrounds, though the majority of my students spoke Spanish as their native language
