I’m Veronica, and I’m your typical nerd who loves books and languages. I have a Master’s degree in English literature and I work as an in-person and online academic writing tutor for English-speaking students and English language learners. I also have Bachelor’s degrees in psychology and sociology. I enjoy sharing my love of all kinds of literature, from science-fiction to micro-histories, with people through book clubs and blogs. In my free time, you can probably find me running in a park or baking something sweet.Me as a Teacher
I have worked with a variety of students with different levels of English for over more than ten years of tutoring. Many of the students I work with as an academic writing tutor need help creating, structuring, and supporting arguments for class essays; however, many students also need help with various aspects of grammar, such as sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. I have also worked with many students who are learning English for more casual purposes, whether to be able to communicate better in their daily lives or to be able to help their children with their homework. Whatever your goal is, I know we can work together so you can meet it with confidence.My lessons & teaching style
Communication is always the number one priority in my teaching style, so you never have to worry about being overwhelmed by long grammar explanations (unless you are also a nerd and you like that sort of thing!). I aim to tailor my lessons individually, working with you at your current level with the objective of meeting your desires, whether that is to get a better grade in a class, pass an exam, or to feel more confident when traveling to an English-speaking country. Every student is different and I believe that keeping you engaged, using material that you find interesting, is far more effective than standard lesson plans.Work Experience

Academic Writing Specialist Mountain View College- Meet with students for 30-minute appointments to review and provide advice on all forms of writing, including academic essays, scholarship essays, personal narratives, and resumes.
- Create handouts and PowerPoint presentations on English grammar, literary analysis, and academic essay formats.
- Conduct presentations on English grammar and academic writing components, such as evaluating sources, composing thesis statements, and writing to be understood.
2017 - 2022
Writing Tutor Smarthinking via Pearson- Provide synchronous and asynchronous remote tutoring to students, high school and above, on all aspects of academic writing, including grammar, documentation, thesis statements, and content development.
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous remote tutoring for business writing, resumes, scholarship essays, and personal narratives.

ESOL, Literacy, and Adult Basic Education Tutor Non-Profit Literacy Organizations- Albany Park Community Center & Jane Addams Resource Corporation – Planned weekly tutoring sessions with adult students incorporating grammar lessons, sentence composition, pronunciation, oral reading, comprehension, GED preparation, and ESL instruction.
- Open Books – Assisted planning and execution of book swaps and drives for donations; assisted with organization of monthly book club discussions; led in-store author readings and discussions; served as venue manager at Printers Row Lit Fest.

I have been a Spanish teacher on Italki for 4 years, so I think my opinion should count regarding Veronica's teaching style: This has been my first lesson with with her and it went amazingly well.
Even though she has just started teaching on Italki, she's an experienced and very well prepared professional. She manages both grammar and cultural aspects of English, so we enjoyed a conversation as well as the corrections she was suggesting during the class.
Hence, I would highly recommend Veronica for all types of students who want to improve their language skills, and also for the ones who just want to practice their conversational skills. I'm sure you will enjoy every second of the lesson and you won't regret the decision of scheduling a class with her; so, please, give it a try.

Veronica is an Excellent Teacher, I have been studying with her since last year and I have improved a lot my conversational skills . We always discuss very interesting articles in our classes which allows me not only to learn new vocabulary but also to express my ideas clearly, thanks to her classes I was able to pass a job interview and get a better job.
